One of our most important educational goals should be to develop numerically literate individuals who do not feel intimidated by mathematics and are able to confidently engage in mathematical problem solving. (Montague & van Garderen, 2003)
 

RATES

Rates will vary according to circumstances however the following may be used as a guide, please note that all prices are exclusive of GST:

 Consultation, staff meeting presentations, working with teachers or staff etc: $175 per hour up to a max of $800.00 for a school day and $450 for a half day.

 Evening, follow up workshops and seminars by negotiation.

In School Workshops (ie working with students) are $800.00 per day with a maximum of 15 teachers (this is because some work may be in class and more than 15 teachers in a classroom may be stressful for some students). The school covers costs such as printing (generally the school does the printing), travel and accommodation if applicable

Private workshops are where a school or school group organises a workshop and covers all costs including venue, meals, printing, presenters travel and accommodation if necessary. Costs for these vary but generally are $1000.00 per day for up to 35 participants, larger groups by negotiation.

Workshops on official staff development days (ie first days of T1,T2,T3, and last 2 days of T4) are charged at $1000 per day +GST+costs.

Travelling costs are charged at a rate of $0.50 per km (both ways) from Newcastle University.

Please note that a one day workshop generally involves 2-3 days of preparation beforehand.

Most public workshops are charged at $200.00  plus GST per participant with a 5% discount for 4 or more teachers from one school for one workshop.
