GEORGE ANDERBERG
George is the Mathematics Connection. He has over 30 years of experience educating students, teachers and the wider community in the field of mathematics and mathematics learning. He holds a BEc, MEd and is a member of the Australian College of Educators. He has conducted research at University Level into how children learn mathematics (K-7), has written numerous papers and presented at both local and overseas conferences.
George was employed by the NSW Dept of Education and Training where he was a mathematics teacher and more recently a Regional Mathematics Consultant until January 2008 when he left to set up The Mathematics Connection to meet a growing need for mathematics professional development and training amongst teachers.
His experience includes teaching mathematics at all levels from K to yr 12, adult education, pre service teacher training, TAFE, distance education, current teacher training and parent workshops.
He has worked as a mathematics educator in the State, Catholic, Independent, ACT and US (Colorado) systems and most recently East Timor..
His special passion is "how children learn mathematics" and he has extensive experience with the "Count Me In Too" and "Counting On " programs.
George understands how students learn and is able to develop a meaningful learning environment that is rigorous, relevant and rewarding.
